Thinking I could get through an entire range of sea dwellers - as called for by the client's brief - I jumped in a few hours ago with much aplomb but managed only to churn out this jovial duo. My lids are drooping so I guess this will have to be banished to the archives or finished off later. Either way, the client can scram!
The panhandling goes on. My latest bank statement's lit a fire under me, so a prompt rejuvenation of my finances is called for. Not that these are sure-fire solutions, but thank heavens for the intarweb.
In the interest of not going homeless, I've once again begun trawling for gigs where anyone with any tangible self-respect shouldn't dare. At least the creative juices find some motility. This composite is something I threw together for an indie film movie poster. It's still in the pipeline. Them pipes again.
Now working on some wine packaging for the new brand. I have to say, just getting the UVs to display correctly on the cans in 3ds max was an unforeseen chore of the highest magnitude. Whereas a UV unwrap for a simple cylinder would have taken 3-5 minutes, a simple modification of the geometry had me pulling my hair out as I pushed and pulled single vertices for hours on end. Get a grip Autodesk! IT'S 2011 FFS!
I'm currently working with a client on some assets that are mainly based around a newly established vineyard and their output. Simply sending them some label designs that flatly display on the screen is quite boring and doesn't do much to convey the designer's vision. So I tend to use 3d renders to woo them a little. Helps in the long run.
Just thought I'd post this as a testament that my dry spell does appreciably moisten on occasion. It's a terrible thing. The sketch never showed promise, and I was a breath away from scrapping it when something just gripped me. And off I went. It's still very rough around the edges, but a little post work made it passable.
I remember scribbling this during an episode of that long winded bane of our existence, Lost. Nothing special, but it puts a smile on my face every time I flick through my work. If this spoils the show for you, it's well deserved. In fact...
THEY'RE ACTUALLY LIVING IN LIMBO! (you'll thank me later)
